Surigao's Treasures
Surigao Del Sur holds a lot of
beautiful and breath-taking tourist spots,that’s why many foreign and local
tourist are mesmerized to visit this place. Especially now that the government
of Surigao Del Sur are planning to broaden the tourism industry to continue the
arrival of tourism and also to enhance the economy.
There
are four tourist spots that makes this province famous for tourists this are: Enchanted River in Talisay,
Hinatuan it is a deep river located in the heart of a thick forest with a very
cool and clear water that makes you see different kinds of fishes underneath.
Britania Islands located in the municipality of San Agustin, it has white
beaches inside and intact coral formation, beautiful for scuba diving and
snorkeling. Another one is the Cagwait White Beach it was called as the
“Waikiki Beach” of the Philippines by the famous
pilot Charles Lindberg because
of its U-shaped formation, white sand and crystal clear water. This is also
where the “Kaliguan Festival” is held annually. And last one is the Tinuy-an
Falls it’s located in Barangay Borboanan in Bislig City. It is the widest waterfall
in Mindanao, its like a 4-storey building with a size of a football field no
wonder it is also known as the “Little Niagara Falls”.
Aside
from these famous tourist spots, there are also historical attractions in this
province like the Old Tribunal Building which was built in 1879, it is tha
oldest tribunal in Cantilan and was now use as a Municipal Hall of
Cantilangnons. Immaculate Conception Parish, a very old church constructed
during 1700. Station of the Cross in Kabiton-an, Brgy. Consuelo, Cantilan. And
the 175 year old Church of San Agustin in the town of Hinatuan, the San Nicolas
de Tolentino Cathedral in Tandag.
Mostly,
falls are seen in Bislig City like the Balinganga Falls, Magkawas Falls,
Sipangpang Falls and many more. There are also many caves like Campamento,
Pagbutuan and Tagbina Cave.
Surigao also celebrate festivals like Kaliguan Festival every June 21-25 in Cagwait, Surigao Del Sur, Pahinungod Festival in Carrascal, Surigao Del Sur every July 15, and Lanuza International Surfing Festival in Doot Poktoy, Lanuza Surigao Del Sur celebrated every last week of November.
So you will surely enjoy and have a memorable experience once you visit the beautiful province of Surigao Del Sur.
